Yesterday the 3PAR SSMC was released, this is a quick post to let you know how to get it and what the system requirements are. The SSMC is the next generation of GUI to manage your 3PAR systems. It has a much more modern and slick looking interface, check out my SSMC Overview to see some screen shots and get a feel for what it’s all about
It’s available for download from the 3PAR software depot, the direct link is here . The download is a 512MB ISO file.
The first requirement is that your 3PAR system is running 3PAR OS 3.1.3 or above and that your hardware is a 7000 or 10,000 system. The SSMC will support up to 16 connected systems.
The SSMC is a web based console that communicates over a secure port with a backend SSMC server. The requirements for the SSMC sever are:
Physical requirements
- Minimum of 2 logical processors
- Minimum of 4 GB RAM
- Minimum of 2 GB free disk space
Supported Host Platforms
Supported Operating Systems as Hypervisor Guest Virtual Machines
- Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V
- Windows Server 2012 and R2 (64–bit)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (64–bit)
Supported Hypervisors
- ESX 5.1
- ESX 5.5
- Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V
- Windows 2012 Hyper-V
Supported Operating Systems for Physical Servers/Workstations
- Windows Server 2008 R2 (64–bit)
- Windows Server 2012 and R2 (64–bit)
- Windows 7 (64–bit)
- Windows 8.1 (64–bit)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x (64–bit)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x (64–bit)
Installation for the SSMC server is just a simple wizard, which only requires you to choose the destination of the install and which port to use for use communications with clients. Check out Flemming Riis’s blog post where he has runs through the install with screen shots. Once installed you just need to set an admin password and add systems.
